Based on advanced measuring technologies and compliant with EU railway standards, the Weighing in Motion (WIM) System is a fixed dynamic rail scale that enables the weighing of locomotives and rail vehicles at speeds ranging from 1 to over 140 km/h as they pass through the weighing station.
A fully installed system consists of eight weighing points, with four located on each rail. Each weighing point includes a pair of sensors mounted on both sides of the rail, securely bolted to the rail web in the space between two sleepers. This bolted installation ensures that the rail becomes an integral part of the weighing system, delivering high measurement accuracy and stability.
The system imposes no limitations on maximum axle load or operating speed at the weighing site. In addition, installation and operation require no modifications to the rails, sleepers, or track structure, allowing seamless integration into existing railway infrastructure.
